    Field Fee

I have always wondered, other than paying for the place what else does it pay for?

access onto field, lights, water, power, cleaning crew, insurance, taxes on land, recycling/ garbage removal, random tools people ask to borrow, referee (for walk on and private games), oh and maybe a touch of profit to entise owners to keep there doors open

why does a movie theater charge $10 + for a ticket?

The field fee is used up by insurance and waiver costs. The paint profit pays for the fixed costs (place, prop taxes, etc) and the variable costs (staffing, power, heat, paint cost, etc). Anything left the owner keeps. Although the breakdown may vary from field to field based on safety history (better = lower premiums) and other factors.

I can't believe someone just asked why a business charges a fee to use their stuff.

Yeah thats basically how an economy works, money moves around when you want to do anything; more money than the actual product costs. This creates businesses, businesses create cities. Technically, if the field fee wasn't there our city would burn. So you're kinda paying for that not to happen.

I'm not entirely sure the initial poster was outright saying "field fees are stupid" more than he was just wondering where it goes. So no need to get after him for it. It's like asking where do my taxes go (although we all agree taxes are stupid to an extent so its a bad simile)

    Paying a field fee?????

Outrageous. Next time your out just have the field explain to you how you can avoid paying a field fee.
